The deadline to get your ideas into the WOMEX 17 programme is fast approaching. The Call for Proposals closes on 17 March, with this year’s conference held in Katowice, Poland, from 25–29 October.
WOMEX is looking for ‘interesting conference topics, expert mentoring ideas, ahead-of-the-curve DJ sessions and live performances’ that will make up its annual world music showcase. Proposals can be made online via WOMEX’s dedicated proposal site.
In other news, WOMEX will also be attending SXSW this year to host the WOMEX Night. It will present six world music and jazz artists at the Flamingo Cantina on 16 March. The bill includes Hanba! (Poland), Monareta (Columbia) and Troker (Mexico).
WOMEX also hosts the World Music Meet Up on the same day at the Austin Convention Center, with WOMEX director Alex Walter in attendance.
