The UK’s Royal Ballet School has announced details of its new Diploma of Dance Teaching.
Replacing all previous teacher training at the school, the two-year, part-time course will train prospective dance teachers for both vocational and educational environments.
Students will be awarded a Trinity College London Diploma in Dance Teaching and Learning (Children and Young People) upon completion of the programme.
The syllabus will cover classical ballet technique; anatomy; education practice, reflective practice; psychology and child development; and workplace context.
Currently open for applications, the course is aimed at current and ex-professional dancers and teachers.
The Diploma will be based at the Royal Ballet School’s studios in Covent Garden, London and will be delivered by school staff and visiting lecturers.
