Liverpool Lighthouse Ltd is a charity with an arts and community venue in North Liverpool with a 430-seat auditorium, recording studios, dance studio, plans to develop a community cinema, activity spaces and with a subsidiary charity Bright Park; a 6-acre park. With a core Christian ethos, Liverpool Lighthouse is the only urban gospel music centre in the UK and has a commitment to creative engagement and performing arts. The charity’s track record of work with communities including families, young people, elders and refugees and asylum seekers was recognised by being awarded the Chamber of Commerce Charity of the Year Award 2018.

Liverpool Lighthouse is embarking on a new journey with the appointment of a Creative Director (Chief Operating Officer) and a new vision to develop the organisation as an arts and community venue. We aim to be a beacon of light to the most vulnerable and to work with our communities to transform our city. Creative Community Manager is a senior management role and will work with the Creative Director in developing the vision and development plan. The role is responsible for Liverpool Lighthouse’s community activity including the planning, delivery, reporting and evaluation of activity and ensuring active dialogue and collaboration with local and identified communities. The role requires skills in working with and advocating for marginalised and disadvantaged groups, partnership and relationship building and project management. Creative Community Manager works closely with the Venues Manager on the development of audience experience and to inform programming.

About the role

In the Creative Community Manager Liverpool Lighthouse is seeking an individual who has a passion and significant experience in working with communities including young people and marginalised and underrepresented groups of people. Being an ethnically diverse-led organisation, it is vital they have an understanding of equality challenges and a commitment to diversity. They will be a driven, inspired individual to lead community engagement in the next stage of Liverpool Lighthouse’s journey and will have enhanced people skills to support some of the most vulnerable people and to build relationships and negotiate partnerships with a range of individuals and organisations including high level city stakeholders. They will collaborate effectively and have excellent organisational and project management skills, ensuring work delivers its objectives effectively and to deadline. They will work with the Creative Director and Venue Manager in programming the venue and in effecting an environment of inclusivity, creativity and sanctuary. They will collaborate with staff to ensure information is captured and shared to support communications and income generation. They will be committed to the vision of Liverpool Lighthouse and to understand and uphold its Christian values.
