Women in the arts: an update

Hello IAM readers!

We’ve been overwhelmed by the response to our request for nominations for women working in the arts who need to be recognised – thank you so much to everyone who has sent in their suggestions.

We’re now looking for contributors for the upcoming women’s edition so if you have a topic you’d like to write about contact IAM editor Maria Roberts (mroberts@impromptupublishing.com).

Read more about our special women’s issue due out this month.

And from the feedback we’ve received already what’s surprising is just how important this issue is to you!

Just would like to drop you a quick line congratulating you for the project! I consider it to be of extreme importance!’
IETM, International Network for Contemporary Performing Arts, Belgium.

There are so many women out there doing outstanding and necessary
things,’ Jennifer Dautermann, Director, Classical:NEXT, Germany.

I am SO pleased to see that you’re going to feature women in the arts in an upcoming edition of your magazine,’ Kathryn J Heideman, Director, Master of Arts Management (MAM) Program, Carnegie Mellon University, US.

You are brilliant – it is Woman’s Week every week,’ Caryn Tomlinson, Universal Music, UK.

As a recent graduate in Cultural Policy and Relations, I know how hard it can be, especially as a woman, to enter the arts industry. A positive initiative like yours can only help to give recognition to women’s contribution, inspiring the next generation of the female cultural work force,’ Clara Melluish, International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Spain.

Thank you so much for your (wake up) call for nominations of women in the arts! It’s really needed, not just because female achievements seem to be still strangely overlooked, even in 2015 and even in the arts business, but also because women seem to strangely overlook themselves and their achievements!‘ Barbara Simonsen, Laboratoriet, Denmark.
