UK charity announces new grant for young musicians

A new bursary has been set up to support the next generation of UK musicians.

The Career Development bursaries, created by charity Help Musicians UK, are designed for UK musicians, composers and ensembles aged between 21 and 35, and will fund masterclasses, coaching and support for the selected artists with a grant of up to GBP2,000 (€2,350).

The charity, who help emerging musical professionals to get a foothold in the industry as well as supporting seasoned musicians through personal crises, spent over GBP3m on emerging and established musicians in 2014 alone, and have helped many accomplished musicians – including opera singer Soraya Mafi and innovative four-piece band United Vibrations.

Activities supported by the grant include one-on-one mentoring, masterclasses and residencies at prestigious institutions like Yale and Banff music schools and coaching sessions with world-class tutors.

The deadline for applications is 2 September 2016, and more details can be found here.
