Julian Lloyd Webber reveals results of recording project

Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC) has recorded six debut albums from its students as part of a new project with Naxos Records.

Students taking part included violist Yue Yu and pianists Daniel Lebhardt, Roman Kosyakov, Pascal Pascaleff, Andrey Ivanov and Domonkos Csabay. The recordings were made in RBC’s Bradshaw Hall, and will be released on Naxos in the coming year.

RBC principal Julian Lloyd Webber led the project and said it was based on his philosophy that “music students should have the chance to experience as many aspects of the music industry as possible”.

Explained Lloyd Webber: “I am so pleased that this unique partnership between the RBC and Naxos Records has provided its outstanding students with this extraordinary opportunity to record for one of the world’s leading record labels.

“I personally recommended all six of these outstanding musicians because I was sure that they would make the most of this unique opportunity.”

Added Naxos president and founder Klaus Heymann: “Naxos is excited to begin this new relationship with the superbly gifted students of RBC.”
