China’s National Centre for the Performing Arts Orchestra will make its North American debut next month.

Under chief conductor Lü Jia, Beijing’s NCPA Orchestra will perform in seven cities, including at Chicago’s Symphony Center, Kennedy Center in Washington DC and Montréal’s Maison Symphonique.

Touring between 2-13 November, the NPCA Orchestra will perform works by Ravel, Dvořák and Tchaikovsky, as well as Zhanhao He and Gang Chen’s The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto and Chen Qigang’s Wu Xing – The Five Elements (Suite for Orchestra).

Featured in these pieces are world-renowned pianists Yuja Wang and Xiaoyu Lius, and violinist Siqing Lu.

The tour marks the 35th anniversary of official diplomatic relations between the US and China.

The NCPA Orchestra was established in 2010.
