The Met, Stephen Petronio and Melbourne Symphony put performances online for free

As COVID-19 shuts down arts centres across the world, an increasing number of companies are making work available online.

Stephen Petronio Company has put its 2005 piece Bud up on Vimeo. Featuring a score by Rufus Wainwright, Petronio commented that, “whenever I see the power of these dancers in action, I’m brought to my knees”.

Meanwhile The Metropolitan Opera continues is nightly opera stream, which began last week. This week’s operas are all by Wagner: Tristan und Isolde (23 March), Das Rheingold (24 March), Die Walküre (25 March), Siegfried (26 March), Götterdämmerung (27 March), Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (28 March), and Tannhäuser (29 March). Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is also running free performances via its YouTube channel. The next performance is on Thursday 26 March at 7:30pm (Australian Eastern Daylight Time). You van watch their latest performance below.
