Manchester International Festival reveals first shows for 2015

A new contemporary ballet from Wayne McGregor is one of three new shows announced today as part of the line-up for the 2015 Manchester International Festival.

Tree of Codes will feature an original composition by Jamie xx and a visual concept by Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson.

Also on the bill is The Age of Starlight, a production about the history of the university written and presented by star physicist Professor Brian Cox (pictured) and directed by Kevin MacDonald.

Also revealed today is The Tale of Mr Tumble, a new theatre show for young children and families starring TV personality Justin Fletcher.

Tickets go on sale at 10am on 20 November.

Running from 2-19 July, MIF is the world’s only biennal festival of new commissions and special events.
