The Development Manager will focus on individual giving. Responsibilities include: working closely with the Development Associate to oversee the processing and acknowledgement of contributions; maintaining donor records and donor listings, conducting research, analyzing data and compiling reports on current or prospective individual and institutional donors; prepare fundraising materials including letters, proposals, e-blasts and supplementary materials for grant proposals, and coordinate appeal mailings throughout the season.
This individual will be active with numerous special events including post-concert receptions, fundraising evenings, donor luncheons and events, and major benefit events (Galas in NY and Washington, DC – including auctions). The person should be enthusiastic, personable, detail-oriented, and a problem-solver.
The Development Manager will attend concerts and receptions and solicit contributions from YCA supporters through personal interactions and various mailings throughout the year. He or she will also be responsible for researching potential sponsors, and will work closely with the Executive Director and President, to solicit special funding for concerts, appeals, and major events.
The Development Manager works with the Development Associate and senior staff to collectively raise $2 million annually. The Development Manager frequently interacts with Board members, donors, and VIPs, thus requiring poise and affability.
-classical music background/interest
-minimum 2 to 3 years of development experience, preferably in an arts organization
-good writing skills
-proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and ability to learn new systems/software
-fluency in database work; experience with direct mail programs and event management is a plus
-ability to manage multiple projects at once
-ability to attend concerts, special events in New York and in Washington DC; limited additional travel may be required
-ability to work occasional evenings and weekendsCompensation
